We should legalize marijuana in NJ and fix a broken criminal justice system that has unfairly targeted poor and minority communities through the government’s war on drugs.

  • Fight to end the war on drugs where despite roughly equal usage rates, black people are almost four times as likely as white people to be arrested for marijuana.
  • Support Governor Murphy in legalizing, taxing, and regulating marijuana for adults. Marijuana legalization will allow us to reinvest in the health, safety, and economic well-being of New Jersey communities, including those disproportionately impacted by our failed enforcement of prohibition. Additionally, legalizing the recreational use of marijuana for adults will help keep marijuana out of the hands of young people.
  • Expand community based policing practices where police officers can work with, support, and build positive ties with the communities they are policing.
  • Put an end to private prisons not just in NJ but in the United States of America. Corporations should not be allowed to make a profit by building more jails and keeping American citizens behind bars.
  • End the over-incarceration of nonviolent young Americans who do not pose a serious threat to our society. The United States of America has  more people locked up in jail than any other country on earth – more than even the Communist totalitarian state of China.
